Development of CFB for power generation has been ongoing for several decades. Other environmental benefits, such as waste reduction and a smaller carbon footprint, can also be achieved through cofiring coal with biomass or waste. As CFBs are inherently fuel flexible, they can readily accept lower rank fuels that can be varied over time pending availability and other factors.
